Bilal Jaffery currently leads the worldwide web social strategy and web commerce enablement for IBM Software Group. Specializing in Social Media, Viral Marketing, SEO and community engagement, his primary focus is Lotus. After co-hosting IBM’s Social Media Summit 2009, he also launched IBM Lotus’s first-ever C2B social ‘jam’ that allowed tapped into the power of the community and allowed the community to engage directly with IBM and mold the “Lotus Knows campaign”. He is also responsible for development of Worldwide IBM Lotus Social Media Strategy and Execution.
Previously, his emphasis had been on Lotus Foundations as their Web Marketing Manager, a new IBM offering for the small businesses, providing a viable alternative to the Microsoft Small Business Server. Prior to Lotus Foundations marketing, he had been working as a Business Development Manager for IBM Lotus Foundations as well and was named the IBM Lotus Foundation’s Man of the Quarter in January 2008.
Along with such vast responsibilities as a worldwide marketing manager, he still finds time and indulges himself into variety of different roles, which he thoroughly enjoys such as being the Director of Marketing for media portal, DesiVibe.ca and consulting as a social media marketing expert for different corporations.
Bilal, who has previously worked as a Channel Marketing Manager for Tech Data Canada focusing on Microsoft, and Marketing Coordinator for Epson Canada has also spoken at few University of Toronto academia events as a subject matter expert on Search Engine Marketing, Viral Marketing and Social Web 2.0. He now sits on the board of directors for MarketingMinds, Our-Foundation, ThinkPanda, and Jobtec.
