As of April 2011, Bilal Jaffery has joined Bell Canada to lead Digital and Social Business Strategy for Bell Business Markets as an Associate Director of Marketing.
Prior to joining Bell, Bilal Jaffery was the Global Marketing Leader at IBM, leading the worldwide digital strategy and competitve marketing for IBM DeveloperWorks leading to Forrester’s Groundswell Award in 2010. Specializing in Social Media, Viral Marketing, SEO and community engagement. Recognized as an Enterprise 2.0, Social Software and Digital Strategy expert at IBM.COM, he is a firm believer that world needs innovators, not followers. Organizations of today need to restructure to be more agile, lean, and responsive to compete with the “Googles” of tomorrow. He also founded an startup back in 1996 which allowed social networking, live streams, p2p, and podcasting prior to the ‘social media’ era.
In previous roles, he has led Worldwide Digital Strategy and e-Commerce Enablement for IBM Software Group, focusing on the Lotus brand and is known for launching the first-ever Consumer2Business social ‘jam’ that allowed IBM to tap into the power of the community to engage directly with IBM and mold the worldwide “Lotus Knows campaign”.
Previously, his emphasis had been on Lotus Foundations as their Global Digital Strategist, specifically focusing on the small business market segment, providing a viable alternative to the Microsoft Small Business Server. Prior to re-entering into the world of marketing, he had been working as a Business Development Manager for IBM and was named the IBM Lotus Foundation’s Man of the Quarter in January 2008.
