IBM Smarter Planet Data Baby and Behind the Scene Footage

IBM’s Smarter Planet team has recently released an ad on IBM’s involvement in data analysis at a local Toronto Children’s Hospital. Real, volunteered, patient data was used to create the data visualizations depicted in this spot. Through data analysis, doctors can identify danger signs and make intelligent decisions to prevent life-threatening infections.

As a new daddy, this really makes me feel proud and secure knowing that we are at a stage in our research where we can proactively analyze patterns to prevent life threatening diseases.

The Smarter City interactive experience @ IBM.COM

IBM Smarter City
Today we are launching an exciting new interactive experience called “TheSmarterCity” on IBM.COM. TheSmarterCity is a tool to visualize how cities can become smarter through the interconnection of data, instrumentation of systems and intelligence gained from analytics.

The website offers an interactive experience of IBM Smarter City agenda by setting up the current challenges, potential solutions and ultimate benefits — all while serving up relevant client examples and differentiated IBM content. If you have always wondered about IBM’s Smarter Planet initiative, this will start making sense.

This initial launch of TheSmarterCity tool includes 6 chapters of the Smarter Planet story: Transportation, Healthcare, Public Safety, Energy/Utilities, Education and Economic Development. More will be added on in 2010.

Check it out, its pretty neat. http://www.ibm.com/thesmartercity
