This battery powered grocery getter was built by Darin Cosgrove and Ivan Limburg, of Brockville, Ontario. The friends were looking for a project to do in Limburg’s new workshop, and set their sights on building an EV after reading about a couple of DIY electric car conversions on the web.

This is awesome! It tells you how much of control the Oil industry has over our automotive innovation.  We have heavier cars that are faster than an a decade before while costing us higher in gas and costs!

A lot of information on how to build an electric car, including cost cutting measures and design tips, can be found on Frank Didik's website at: www.didik.com/didik_ev.htm. In particular, check out the section entitled "How to Build an Electric Car", "Didik Turtle or How to build a two person electric vehicle in 14 hours" and "Critical and accurate assessment of electric vehicles". He is the first to truly mention the pro's and con's of electric cars and an excellent history directory of electric cars, starting in the 1800's. Many years ago, Didik was the found of the Electric Car Society.

  • Definitely, looking forward to driving a newer vehicle. By newer, I mean, something that is not based on what we have been using for almost the whole century or so.

If you think about it, our MPG ratings haven't really changed in the past two decades. Still hovering in high 20s for something with little power.

That's awesome! The technology is really coming along for Electric Vehicles. The prices at Tesla and Zap are still a little high, but should come down as the technology becomes more popular.
